Chaplaincy

The school has a very active and focused Chaplaincy team which meets four times in the academic year to plan and review the liturgical season of the Church's year. Through the House System we run a Student Chaplaincy team to develop student leadership in this area which meets on a termly basis. Holy Family engages with the Bishop of Leeds' Faith In Action programme to strengthen and develop the students' understanding of virtues; and more importantly to act them out in the wider Keighley community. With the support of all three local priests the school is able to offer weekly Mass for the whole community on Wednesdays. All Feast Days are celebrated with a voluntary Mass. In addition twice yearly we offer the Sacrament of Reconciliation to the students. Our Blessed Sacrament Chapel open each morning with prayers and is a quiet and safe haven for the staff and students to visit when they wish to talk to God.

With the support of our Priest Chaplain, Father Michael Walsh, Mass is celebrated each week during break-time on a Wednesday. Forms take it in turns to prepare the readings. Throughout the year Mass is celebrated to accompany the school through its Journey of Faith, these include a Mass for Year 7 at the start of their life in school and a leavers Mass for years 11 and 13.

The chapel is open to all and Morning Prayer, taken from the Office of the Church, is said at 8 a.m. each morning. In addition the Taize room is used for exploring different ways of praying, including the use of a Prayer Labyrinth.
