KS4 Options

You are about to embark on the most significant aspect of your education to date, your GCSE
Studies. The next few years will be a very exciting and challenging time for you. This booklet is
designed to help you understand the choices available, as well as helping you to make the right
choices for you personally.

Some of you will already have a clear idea about the sort of career that you would like to have,
and some of you will take much longer to decide. You must speak to your family and the staff who
know your strengths and aspirations, to help you decide what’s best for you and your future.

Whatever the stage you have reached, it is a good idea to make your decisions about your GCSE courses based upon some of the following tips:

• Choose subjects that you will enjoy
• Choose subjects that you are good at
• Choose subjects that will support your career plans
• Choose a combination of subjects that give you a broad experience of learning
• Do not choose subjects because you want to be with your friends
• Do not choose subjects because you like the teacher
